Public Health Emergency Center Opens in Termez
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC) has officially begun operations in the city of Termez, located in the Surkhandarya region.
The center was established with the participation of the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Well-being and Public Health, in cooperation with the United States government and with the executive support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
This new structure will function as a regional coordination platform, providing real-time information exchange, operational planning, and interagency cooperation during emergency situations. The integration of the center into national systems is designed to increase the efficiency and consistency of responses to public health threats.
Strengthening regional capacity will allow for reduced response times during infectious disease outbreaks and other threats, while ensuring the continuity of essential medical services under crisis conditions. The project is intended to support more than 3 million residents of the Surkhandarya region, including children and vulnerable population groups.
