Public Education Ministry establishes cooperation with private schools

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 July 2018, Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of private schools.

During the meeting, the existing problems of development of private school education were discussed. In particular, problems were raised, such as the impossibility of receiving dividends, the absence of tax incentives, the leasing of educational buildings and premises, the gaps in the legislation because of which non-state educational institutions cannot issue certificates for school leavers. Also, issues of teacher training in the Institutes of Advanced Studies were discussed.

In turn, the Minister of Public Education expressed his readiness to assist the development of non-governmental educational organizations, including in the form of public-private partnership.

The participants discussed attraction of private investors to creating new private schools and also took obligation to provide free education to people from the districts, including to low income families.

The minister noted that this approach will help to free up part of the budgetary funds, as well as direct them to improve other public schools, including in remote areas and school branches. Also, the prospects of creating centers of excellence in the format of public-private partnership were discussed.

The parties also underlined that to date, it is necessary to address gaps in the development of the educational and methodological process, state educational standards, the creation of textbooks and teaching aids.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on close cooperation between the Ministry of Education and private schools in addressing the above-mentioned problems and submitting proposals for drafting regulatory and legal acts on the radical improvement of the public education system.

The participants of the meeting expressed great gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry for support and cooperation to solve existing problems and use modern methods of developing education.
