Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 17 September 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Hakimov met in Brussels with the vice-presidents of Elsevier (Netherlands) Felix Haysta and Cohen van der Krot, as well as its regional director in Central Asia and Azerbaijan Aliya Ospanova.

Founded in 1880, Elsevier is one of the four largest scientific publishing houses in the world, which annually publishes 25% of all articles published in the world by scientific journals and provides access to archives of scientific articles for approximately 4,500 organizations and universities from 180 countries.

During the talks, the parties discussed the prospects of establishing fruitful cooperation with ministries and departments, as well as educational institutions of Uzbekistan, which are increasingly using the services of the company. As was emphasized, thanks to this, the quality of scientific research and publications of Uzbek scientists in leading publications of the world is growing.

The Uzbek side expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of the Ilm-fan 2020 project, implemented jointly with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, within which all universities and research institutes of Uzbekistan were given access to the most cited journals and books, as well as major scientific and analytical Scopus platform. As a result of the work, the first platform of peer-reviewed scientific journals in Uzbekistan was created.

The sides discussed the organization of the upcoming visit of the Elsevier delegation to Tashkent on 7 October with the aim of officially launching the platform of peer-reviewed scientific journals Uzbekistan Research Online, which has already posted profiles of 41 scientific journals published in Uzbekistan.

In addition, as a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on cooperation to expand the activities of Elsevier in Uzbekistan, in particular to increase the ratings of Uzbek universities and the quality of scientific research.
