Prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Lithuania discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 15 November 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov met in Riga with the head of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group with our country in the Sejm of Lithuania, Valerius Simulik, the Foreign Ministry said.

An exchange of views took place on the prospects for enhancing interaction between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Lithuania, and also touched on the preparations for the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on 22 December. In this regard, it was emphasized that this electoral cycle will be held under the slogan "New Uzbekistan - new elections."

The Lithuanian deputy said that he was looking forward to arrival in Uzbekistan as an international observer. Taking into account the processes of regionalization in Central Asia, they expressed readiness to share with the Uzbek side the experience of the Baltic Assembly, which is an advisory structure of the parliaments of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, whose vice-president is Valerius Simulik.

The Lithuanian side positively characterized the emerging positive trend in the intensification of interaction between the economic and educational structures of the two countries. In this context, the upcoming arrival in Uzbekistan of a group of entrepreneurs from Lithuania and representatives of Vytautas the Great University in late November was highly appreciated for a comprehensive study of the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of investment and education.
