Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan held talks with the responsible officer for commerce and business development of the innovative pharmaceutical park Shonan Health Innovation Park, Takakazu Naruma.

Shonan Health Innovation Park (Shonan iPark) is Japan’s first pharmaceutical know-how-based innovation ecosystem for the pharmaceutical industry, involving industry, government and academia. Shonan iPark is located on an area of more than 300,000 square meters and has more than 116 laboratories, employing more than 2,000 specialists. Shonan iPark launched in April 2018 with the goal of creating an ecosystem of researchers, industry experts, venture capitalists, government and academia who collaborate and conduct research together to transform cutting-edge science into effective solutions for patient health everywhere. the world. Shonan iPark is based on Takeda Pharmaceutical’s Shonan Research Center by transforming it to enhance scientific innovation and strive to become a world-class ecosystem. Shonan iPark is supported by the local government and aligns well with the foundation of the government’s economic and revitalization strategy.

During the meeting, the Embassy staff briefed Shonan iPark representatives on the current state of development of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan, ongoing work in terms of scientific and technical developments, provided favorable conditions for foreign investors in the industry, in particular in the established pharmaceutical free economic zones.

In turn, representatives of Shonan iPark spoke about the activities of the innovation park, which unites more than 120 members and residents, provides more than 913 types of cooperation in various fields, has more than 50 new developments. Shonan iPark also has the necessary equipment for research development, chemical, biochemical and preclinical testing.

Today, Shonan iPark cooperates with research centers in China and Thailand.

In Shonan iPark, it is possible to use the available laboratories and equipment for various research and experiments on a contract basis. Shonan iPark also offers its services in the development of new projects, the promotion of startups in the pharmaceutical industry, the exchange of academic experience and business solutions.

During the talks, representatives of the Embassy also spoke about the Tashkent Pharma Park being created in Zangiata district of Tashkent region, which will include scientific institutes, a university, a quality control center, drug development institutes, as well as an industrial zone for pharmaceutical companies.

Shonan iPark employees expressed great interest in the Asian market and expressed their desire to establish cooperation with Tashkent Pharma Park in exchange of experience, providing the opportunity to use existing Shonan iPark equipment and laboratories, as well as establishing relationships with partners and members of Shonan iPark .
