Prosecutor General’s Office to supervise execution of laws

New department was created in line with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov “On measure on further improving system of execution of legislation” from 24 July 2014.

According to the resolution, the territorial branches of the department will be created at the structures of prosecutor bodies in the regions.

Uzbek leader, at the same time, abolished Main Department on control over compliance with the legislation and its territorial branches. Freed 88 jobs were handed over to Main department on supervision over execution of legislation under the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan and its territorial branches.

President also handed over Department of human rights and freedoms, interests of public and the state to Main department on supervision over execution of legislation and its territorial branches.

The main tasks of the Main department on supervision over execution of legislation are to carry out supervision of the execution of the legislation by state bodies, law enforcement and controlling bodies, enterprises and companies, ensure protection of political, economic, social and other freedoms and interests of citizens.

The department will consider applications of individuals and legal entities on violation of their rights, carry out measures to prevent law violations, etc.
