Programme of construction, reconstruction, overhaul and equipping pre-school educational institutions adopted
In 1991-2017, the number of pre-school educational institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan has almost halved, while in recent years the country has maintained high population growth rates.
Annually more than 700,000 children are born in Uzbekistan, while the capacity of all existing kindergartens at the time of the organization of the Ministry of Preschool Education at the end of 2017 was only about 711,000 people. The number of state pre-school educational institutions as of November 2017 was 4 907 kindergartens.
The Ministry of Preschool Education in late 2017 carried out a full passportization and inventory of pre-school educational institutions of the Republic, comparing them with data on the number of preschool children in each region
As a result of this analysis, the programme was developed, which envisages reconstruction, construction and equipment of 367 objects with the capacity of 43,800 places. The document envisages construction of 40 kindergartens with a total capacity of 7,775 places, reconstruction of 298 gardens and overhaul of 29. No region of the republic was left without attention.
These measures will make it possible to increase coverage not only by creating new places as a result of new construction and reconstruction, but also by putting into operation the facilities in poor condition and therefore not used for the provision of pre-school education.
It is expected that about 1.254 trillion soums will be spent on the implementation of the programme. The programme will be financed from the Fund for Development of the Material and Technical Base of Educational and Medical Institutions, loans of international financial institutions, state and local budgets.
