Priority tasks of developing farmers determined

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent regional administration in cooperation with the Executive Committee of Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) and Uzbekistan Farmers Council held a meeting dedicated to the speech of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at opening ceremony of the conference “On Vital Reserves in the Realization of Food Program in Uzbekistan” and main directions, outlined in it.

Activists of the UzLiDeP, representatives of Uzbekistan Farmers Council and Tashkent regional administration, over 5,000 farmers of Tashkent region participated in the meeting.

Uzbekistan carries out reforms to diversity agriculture sector and providing necessary agriculture products to populations, as well as exporting agriculture products. Currently, there are over 73,000 farms in Uzbekistan, of them over 32,000 are multiple-discipline farms.

There are 6,233 farms in Tashkent regions, including 2,318 multiple-discipline farms. At the meeting, it was said that the speech of the President at the conference outlined main directions of developing agriculture sector in Uzbekistan. It was said that implementation of these goals will help to develop farms further in the c ountry, strengthen their financial and economic independence.

The participants underlined that during the reforming agriculture sector, the area of lands, allocated to production of grain, rose by 45%, potato, vegetables, melons and gourds – by 9% and technical plants decreased by 38%.

Currently, Uzbekistan adopts measures on introduction of market relations to agriculture sector and development of private farms. Uzbekistan created legal foundations to development of private businesses and farms, increasing production and income.

The meeting determined tasks, directed at conducting regular public and deputy control by MPs Group of UzLiDeP in the regions in cooperation with Farmers Council.

The participants exchanged opinion on establishing cooperation between farms and agriculture goods processing enterprises, beekeepers, fishing farms, etc. The recommendations were developed.
