Priorities for Tourism Development and Entrepreneurship Support Defined in Khorezm Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the implementation of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy, systematic work continues to position tourism as a key sector of the economy, promote comprehensive regional development, and create new jobs.
On 29–30 January, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the Khorezm Region to review current and prospective tourism projects and engage in an open dialogue with industry representatives.
The meeting brought together members of the national working group and around 150 representatives of the tourism sector, including entrepreneurs, tour operators, artisans, guides, hotel and restaurant owners, and transport company representatives. Entrepreneurs from the Republic of Karakalpakstan also participated, allowing for discussion of interregional cooperation.
During the dialogue, participants addressed pressing issues in tourism development, effective use of Khorezm’s cultural and historical potential, infrastructure improvement, and enhancement of service quality.
Committee Chairman Abdulaziz Akkulov presented the results of 2025 activities and outlined priority areas for 2026, emphasizing the prospects of cultural, culinary, and family tourism.
It was noted that existing state support measures — including tax benefits, subsidies, and grant programs — contribute to the sustainable growth of the sector. Participants proposed the creation of new tourist routes, infrastructure modernization, and stronger partnerships between government and business.
Special attention was given to transport logistics as a key factor in increasing tourist flows, highlighting the need to expand flight routes, improve road infrastructure, and develop roadside services.
The meeting concluded with defined steps to promote Khorezm’s tourism potential in domestic and international markets and to implement initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents. Participants emphasized the importance of such dialogue platforms for reaching coordinated solutions in tourism development.
