Prime Minister of Uzbekistan: Kyrgyzstan is reliable and long-term partner

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 August, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov said in Bishkek that Kyrgyzstan is a close neighbor, a reliable and long-term partner for Uzbekistan.

Speaking at a meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on bilateral cooperation, Aripov noted that Uzbekistan is ready for constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation on unshakable principles of good-neighborhood and mutual respect, taking into account each other’s interests.

The head of the Government of Uzbekistan said that since September 2016 bilateral relations between the countries have been noticeably revitalized in key areas.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan noted that holding of the session of the intergovernmental commission after an 8-year break is considered as a good opportunity for an in-depth analysis of the current state of bilateral relations and the development of practical measures to expand them.

“We are working hard to expand trade and economic relations. We hope that each year the turnover will double in comparison with the previous year and increase steadily in favor of our producers and their partners,” Abdulla Aripov said.

He also said that Uzbekistan uses a number of new high-tech industries, in particular automobile manufacturing, oil and gas chemistry, pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics and construction materials.

Touching upon issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Abdulla Aripov said that the Uzbek side will make every effort to develop this direction.

“This year, we propose to hold Days of Uzbek culture in Kyrgyzstan. In 2018, we expect that Dys of Kyrgyzstan’s cultural will be held in Uzbekistan. We have not exchanged our film libraries for a long time, therefore it is also necessary to organize Days of Cinemas in this direction,” Abdulla Aripov said.

At the end of the meeting, Abdulla Aripov said that these negotiations will be the beginning of the replenishment of lost time.

"By meeting further and developing our cooperation we will overcome all barriers, which hamper development of our bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation,” Aripov concluded.
