Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Bukhara region and visited the places most affected by the natural disaster.
On 27 April, a storm wind from the territory of Turkmenistan to Bukhara, Navoi, Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions with gusts of up to 9-40 meters a second. Several citizens were injured, one person died. Infrastructure facilities, vehicles, houses, crops were damaged.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the situation in Karakul and Alat districts by flying over by helicopter.
A meeting was held with local residents and public figures in Alat district center.
The Head of the state noted with regret that the storm proved unprecedented in terms of impact on people’s lives, agricultural activities and other areas.
United in face of such disasters, Uzbekistan people have always overcome many trials. Essential measures will be taken this time, as well, and the consequences of the disaster will be quickly eliminated. Crucially, if we do not lose confidence in ourselves and act together, we will come out of these difficulties strong, the President stressed.
Instructions were given to repair housing and infrastructure facilities, provide comprehensive assistance to the population. Operational measures have been defined for agriculture, economic sectors and public safety.
