Presidents of Uzbekistan and the United States Discuss Strategic Partnership in Telephone Conversation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 December, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

At the outset of the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the U.S. President on the upcoming New Year holidays, wishing the American people peace, well-being, and prosperity. In response, Donald Trump extended warm greetings and best wishes to Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan, highlighting his hopes for success and new achievements in the coming year.

The leaders discussed in detail the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, as well as the prospects for further development of Uzbek-American strategic partnership relations. The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the results of the U.S. President’s domestic and foreign policy over the past year, emphasizing his efforts to resolve critical international crises and conflicts.

The conversation highlighted the increased intensity of bilateral political contacts, particularly at the level of heads of state, which has ushered in a new stage in the development of strategic partnership and given it tangible practical significance. Within the framework of cooperation, projects worth tens of billions of dollars are being implemented in civil aviation, automotive manufacturing, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, chemical industry, information and communication technologies, and other sectors.

To facilitate the effective advancement of current projects and the development of new initiatives, the U.S.-Uzbek Business and Investment Council has been established. Work continues on establishing a joint investment fund, and a new mechanism for interregional cooperation has been set up: delegations from three regions of Uzbekistan have already visited the United States to establish partnerships with American states.

Special attention was given to international and regional issues, including the importance of multilateral cooperation within the “C5+1” format.

At the conclusion of the conversation, both sides confirmed their intention to continue active high-level contacts and agreed to advance joint initiatives and practical cooperation programs. President Mirziyoyev invited Donald Trump to visit Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
