Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Discuss Key Bilateral Agenda Items

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Dushanbe between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.

During the discussion, the Uzbek leader extended sincere congratulations to the President of Tajikistan on his successful chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and wished productive outcomes for the upcoming meetings in the “Central Asia – Russia” format and the CIS summit.

The two sides addressed key issues for further expanding and strengthening Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance. Positive dynamics in bilateral cooperation were noted, including growth in trade volumes and freight transportation, as well as expanded air connectivity between the countries.

Special attention was given to coordinated measures for developing mutual trade and implementing joint projects in industry, energy, agriculture, and other priority sectors. The importance of continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges and strengthening interregional contacts was emphasized.

In addition, the leaders discussed key international and regional agenda items, including preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, scheduled to take place in Tashkent in November 2025.
