Presidents of Uzbekistan and Finland discuss strengthening cooperation and upcoming visit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 September, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Finland Alexander Stubb.
The two leaders discussed in detail the further development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Finland, particularly in trade, the economy, and humanitarian areas, ahead of the upcoming visit of the Finnish President to Uzbekistan.
They noted with satisfaction the continuation of constructive political dialogue and inter-parliamentary exchanges. Bilateral trade turnover increased by 24 percent in 2024, while since 2022 the Finnish "Nordic" University has been operating successfully in Uzbekistan, alongside projects to improve school education.
Special attention was given to cooperation prospects in agriculture, the chemical, energy, mining, and telecommunications industries, as well as in innovative technologies and their integration into the education system.
To prepare concrete projects, the parties proposed holding a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and organizing a business forum with the participation of leading companies from both countries.
The presidents also exchanged views on pressing international issues, underlining the importance of peaceful conflict resolution in accordance with international law.
