President: “Yangi Kamolon Has Become a Model of Comprehensive Mahalla Development”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Yangi Kamolon mahalla, located in the Shaykhantakhur district of Tashkent.
This visit once again underscored that the reforms underway in Uzbekistan are reaching every level of society and penetrating deep into each mahalla.
Yangi Kamolon stands as a clear example of positive transformation: living conditions have visibly improved, and economic and social activity has grown significantly. Apartment buildings, shops, and the citizens’ assembly building have all been modernized. The area has been landscaped, greenery added, and internal roads leveled. A walking alley, sports and children’s playgrounds, and rest areas for the elderly have been developed.
More than 4,600 people live in the mahalla. Over 60 retail and service points operate here, primarily employing young residents. In 2025, craft workshops, agricultural produce stores, a bakery, and a private medical facility were opened. Thanks to such initiatives, employment in the mahalla has reached its highest level — unemployment has effectively been eliminated.
The President was briefed on the activities of the Shaykhantakhur District Reform Headquarters. In this context, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the district’s historic roots in craftsmanship and its role as a sustainable source of income and employment. He noted that a new program for developing the services sector would be developed using the district as a model.
To enhance public safety, a situation center was established under the mahalla inspector’s office. It integrates CCTV systems from apartment entrances with the Ministry of Internal Affairs' digital platforms. As a result of these measures, not a single crime has been recorded in the mahalla so far this year.
The 21 apartment buildings are serviced by the “Yangi Kamolon” management company, which is equipped with the necessary machinery and trained staff. A billing system has been implemented. In 2025, central heating and electrical networks were upgraded, entrances were renovated, and new elevators were installed in some buildings.
The President stressed the importance of further developing such service companies. In the future, they should be based in apartment buildings and provide vocational training for youth, along with household services. The mahalla also has a small library, and the President proposed expanding this practice to other neighborhoods.
On the terrace of one building, the President held a warm conversation with residents.
He emphasized that as the economy grows and new enterprises open, particular attention must be paid to the education, health, and employment of the younger generation.
In this context, he announced that in 2025, $8 billion in investment would be brought into Tashkent, to be directed, among other priorities, toward job creation, construction of educational institutions, and infrastructure development in Shaykhantakhur.
Residents of the mahalla, especially the elderly, expressed sincere gratitude for the ongoing changes and wished peace and prosperity to the country.
