President Visits Renovated Imam Bukhari Complex in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19 March 2026, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the newly reconstructed Imam Bukhari Complex in the Payariq district of Samarkand Region.
The centerpiece of the complex is the mausoleum of the renowned Islamic scholar, where the president participated in the recitation of Quranic surahs and du’a prayers.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev emphasized the significance of Imam Bukhari for the entire Islamic world and his contribution to the study of hadith.
“In anticipation of the sacred holiday of Ramadan Hayit, we once again pay deep respect to the memory of our great compatriot, the sultan of hadith scholars, Imam Bukhari. Bukhari is an outstanding figure, recognized worldwide for compiling the hadith collection that is the most authoritative source after the Holy Quran,” the president said.
He also noted that the dedication of the Uzbek people made it possible to create a pilgrimage complex that meets global standards in honoring Imam Bukhari. “Today, our dreams and intentions have come true. We have built a unique complex that will become a center of spiritual and cultural attraction,” Mirziyoyev added, congratulating the nation on this historic milestone.
The opening of the renovated complex is expected to enhance opportunities for pilgrimage and cultural tourism, further strengthening Uzbekistan’s reputation as a country with rich Islamic and historical heritage.
