President visits new fish farm in Karmana

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan pays special attention to the accelerated development of agriculture, in particular, the fishing industry. Consistent work is carried out on further development of fish farms, creating new hatcheries, strengthening the feed base, introducing modern technologies, as well as improving the processing system and export of products.

An important guide to action in this direction is the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On additional measures for further development of the fishing industry” of 6 November 2018.

Thanks to the attention paid to the industry, in December 2018, Export Fish Product LLC was successfully launched in Karmana district. The total value of the company is 37 billion soums, of which 30 billion soums is a bank loan, 7 billion soums are own investments.

Closed-type reservoirs, a freezing warehouse with a capacity of 500 tons, as well as a recreational area with a public catering center and a fishing spot have been erected here. About 50 jobs were created.

With the output of the enterprise at full capacity, 500 tons of fish and 100 million whitebaits will be produced here. In the future, the company intends to attract 800 families to intensive fish farming, which will ensure employment of about 900 people. On the basis of the lake with an area of 2 thousand hectares it is planned to organize fish harvesting by the cluster method. This will allow the production of fish meal, fat, fillets, canned food, fish cakes and smoked products. It is planned to export 600 tons of finished products.

During the trip to Navoi region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev became familiar with the activities of this enterprise.

– The more products are produced, the stronger is the competition, strong competition leads to higher quality, and high-quality products determine export success, – said the President. – Following these simple truths, we will make richer both the people and the state.

A presentation of projects on creation of agro clusters in various areas of agriculture, improvement of pasture conditions was also held here.

Production of equipment for irrigation of crops by artificial sprinkling is among the presented projects. The project, initiated by Navoi Ishonch Gilamlari LLC, operating in Navoi Free Economic Zone, envisages a reduction in the consumption of water, fuel and mineral fertilizers. The total cost of the project is 41 billion soums.

In addition, special attention in the region is paid to development of animal husbandry. In particular, Konimech Techno Oasis LLC is implementing a project on development of camel, horse and sheep breeding, which provides for the import of 900 heads of camels, horses and purebred sheep. It is planned to open a riding school and train riders.

The Head of the state made recommendations on increasing the number of fish-breeding and livestock-breeding enterprises, the fertility of the soil, and efficient use of household land.
