President Signs Law Establishing Criminal Liability for Disclosure of Closed Court Proceedings

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to certain national legislative acts.

The law establishes criminal liability for the unauthorized disclosure of information and details of closed court proceedings by persons obliged to maintain confidentiality. If there are grounds for holding a session in a closed format, the court issues a corresponding ruling.

Participants in closed court sessions are warned of their duty not to disclose information and are required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The law also specifies that violation of this obligation entails liability under Article 239 of the Criminal Code.

The law comes into force on the date of its official publication.
