President signs amendments to legislation, concerning confiscation of property
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
On 16 October, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The law was passed by the Legislative Chamber on 28 September 2017 and approved by the Senate on 4 October 2017.
The law amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Uzbekistan, envisaging establishment of an order in accordance with which items, used as the tool of crime belonging to a suspect, accused, defendant, convicted are subject to confiscation.
However, if these items, which are not property of the said persons, in accordance with the introduced amendments, they are not subject to confiscation and returned to the rightful owners.
The amendments in the legislation are aimed at protecting the property rights of the citizens.
