President Reviews Results of Urban Development on Bunyodkor Street in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev continued his inspection tour of urban development initiatives, community living conditions, and industrial activity in Tashkent.

His latest visit covered the Shaykhantakhur and Chilanzar districts, connected by Bunyodkor Avenue — one of the capital’s major thoroughfares, home to cultural and artistic institutions, administrative buildings, residential complexes, supermarkets, and restaurants.

A 1.5-kilometer section of this avenue has recently been transformed into a specialized service and gastronomic tourism zone.

Together with local community representatives, President Mirziyoyev examined the results of the redevelopment: decorative elements, lighting, fountains, and landscape features have been installed, creating a welcoming environment for walking, dining, and leisure activities.

As part of the project, 90 businesses have transitioned to 24/7 operations, including 45 newly established establishments. This initiative has created 500 new jobs.

Significant improvements were also made to the social infrastructure of the surrounding mahallas — Kamolon, Yangi Kamolon, and Kamolon Darvoza — home to nearly 18,000 residents. These communities were among the first to benefit from an enhanced quality of life. According to estimates, the area currently attracts over 255,000 visitors annually, a figure projected to grow to 1 million per year with the newly improved conditions.

Overall, consistent support for the tourism sector in recent years has led to the emergence of more than 2,000 new entrepreneurs in the market. In 2024, the number of international tourists visiting Uzbekistan surpassed 10 million for the first time. Tourism and service infrastructure continues to expand across the regions, with strong support for initiatives such as tourist villages, guesthouses, and themed streets.

Bunyodkor Street is now positioned to become a key part of a growing network of vibrant tourist routes. Similar zones have already been established in the Mirabad, Almazar, Chilanzar, Yakkasaray, and Yangihayot districts. In the long term, plans are underway to convert 26 streets across Tashkent into 24-hour activity zones, aiming to increase the number of continuously operating businesses to 1,000.

During the visit, the President was also presented with a new concept for modern bus stops and parking zones.
