Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 July, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh region to inspect the development of the Zaamin Technopark Special Industrial Zone.
The technopark project was initiated by the head of state on 27 June 2024. Spanning 400 hectares, the site is set to host 31 investment projects with a total value of US$1.2 billion, with active participation from Chinese investors. Over the past year, essential infrastructure has been built and construction of production facilities is underway.
The first facility to launch is a US$10 million concrete product plant operated by the Chinese company Xinjiang Honglin Tiandi, which is already in operation and has created 60 new jobs.
The second project, currently in its final phase, is valued at US$42 million and will manufacture 300,000 units of home appliances annually under the Midea brand. This initiative is expected to generate 150 new jobs.
In the initial development phase, nine investment projects have been allocated space within the technopark. Construction is ongoing for seven additional projects worth around US$300 million. These ventures include the production of construction materials, metal structures, electrical equipment, and chemical products. Plans also include the establishment of a logistics hub and a training center.
Once all projects are operational, the technopark is expected to produce industrial goods worth approximately 5 trillion soums annually, introduce 15 new product types, and achieve an export potential of US$70 million. The total number of new jobs is projected to exceed 5,000.
The President gave directives to accelerate project implementation, provide comprehensive support to both foreign and local investors, and emphasized the importance of training skilled workers and promoting youth employment in the region.
