President Reviews Plans with Uzbekneftegaz to Increase Gas Production to 70 Million Cubic Meters per Day

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a presentation outlining the future tasks and strategic plans of the joint-stock company Uzbekneftegaz.

The meeting focused particularly on ensuring the country’s energy security and the uninterrupted supply of energy resources to key sectors of the economy, a cornerstone for national development. Emphasis was placed on increasing productivity, widely adopting modern technologies, and intensifying geological exploration in the gas industry.

The presentation highlighted that the primary objective of Uzbekneftegaz is to expand natural gas reserves and increase production. The company was tasked with raising daily gas output from 66 million to 70 million cubic meters and achieving a total production of at least 25.4 billion cubic meters in 2026. Proposals for maximizing the efficiency of existing infrastructure and capabilities were also reviewed.

To boost gas reserves, plans include establishing new promising investment blocks and accelerating work on a number of sites allocated to investors, with a focus on increasing operational efficiency.

It was noted that oil production capacities are currently utilized at only 70%, while export products are sold at 50% below their potential market value. Considering that processing crude oil into polymer products increases added value sixfold, the company was instructed to ensure full utilization of existing production capacities.

Additionally, measures to strengthen Uzbekneftegaz’s financial stability and combat theft and corruption in the sector were discussed. A new position of Deputy Chairman has been introduced within the company, along with the establishment of a compliance and internal anti-corruption control service to promptly detect and prevent any legal violations.

The President gave specific directives to responsible officials to further transform the oil and gas sector, increase reserves and gas production volumes, and reinforce financial discipline across the company.
