President Reviews Plans for Freight Wagon Production at JSC Uzbekiston Temir Yullari

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on a presentation covering current freight wagon production at the facilities of JSC Uzbekiston Temir Yullari and the industry's plans for the years ahead.

The modernization of transport infrastructure, expansion of export potential, and ensuring uninterrupted logistics across economic sectors remain key priorities of state policy. Large-scale transformations are underway in the railway industry, aimed at renewing the rolling stock fleet and increasing production capacity.

The first phase of the project, covering 2023–2025 at a cost of 105 million dollars, resulted in the production of 1,590 semi-open freight wagons, boosting freight turnover on domestic and international routes and stabilizing logistics chains.

The second phase, spanning 2025–2026 at a cost of 150 million dollars, provides for the production of 954 freight and 70 passenger wagons, as well as the modernization of wagon-building facilities. To date, 45 passenger wagons and 340 tank wagons have been produced, with a further 614 freight and 25 passenger wagons planned for completion before year's end.

To further scale up production, the President signed a separate decree allocating an additional 100 million dollars and ordering the delivery of 1,350 freight wagons. Under the initiative, enterprises are required to increase their capacity by one and a half times, enabling the production of 2,000 freight wagons in 2026.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed those responsible to continue modernizing the rolling stock fleet, increase freight volumes, and optimize costs across the railway sector, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the country's logistics processes.
