President Reviews Basalt Products Manufacturing Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the production line of Surkhon Sandwich in the Termez district, a company specializing in basalt products.

During the visit, the President noted that all regions of the country are seeing large-scale constructive initiatives, with priority given to energy efficiency.

The growing demand for basalt raw materials and products, including energy-efficient boards and construction materials, formed the basis for establishing the new enterprise with an investment of 26 million US dollars.

Surkhon Sandwich has the capacity to process 30,000 tons of basalt annually and produce finished goods valued at 345 billion Uzbek soums. Its products are supplied not only to the domestic market but are also exported to Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

Ninety-five percent of the required raw materials come from deposits in the Altynsay district. The plant is equipped with modern machinery from China, and it provides permanent employment for 200 people.

The President emphasized the importance of further improving product quality, increasing the level of local production, and developing export-oriented directions.

He also stressed the need to strengthen the scientific foundation of the construction industry and establish a research institute for building materials.

During the visit, the President also reviewed the construction materials industry exhibition of the Surkhandarya region. After completing the events in the region, Shavkat Mirziyoyev returned to Tashkent.
