President Orders Increase in Passenger Car Production to 50 Units per Year
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Over the next five years, Uzbekistan plans to manufacture 250 passenger railcars and procure 23 intercity electric trains to expand passenger transportation.
Zupar Narzullaev, Chairman of the Board of “Uzbekiston Temir Yullari,” told Uzbekiston 24 that the President has instructed a significant increase in passenger car production.
“With financial support from the fund, the esteemed President has ordered us to ensure annual production of not 40, but 50 passenger railcars,” Narzullaev said.
The presidential meeting was attended by Shukhrat Vafaev, Executive Director of the Uzbekistan Reconstruction and Development Fund, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, and Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov.
The head of “Uzbekiston Temir Yullari” did not specify which fund would finance the increase in railcar production.
It is recalled that in July 2023, the President approved the creation of the Industrial Development Fund under the Reconstruction and Development Fund, aimed at financing industrial projects and supporting local industry.
