President of Uzbekistan: Trump Could End the War Between Russia and Ukraine
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 6 November, during the summit of Central Asian leaders and the United States in the “C5+1” format held at the White House in Washington, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s role in strengthening cooperation with the region and expressed hope that he could be the one to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“We highly value your personal contribution to revitalizing the ‘C5+1’ format. Until now, no U.S. president has paid such attention to Central Asia. Personally, and on behalf of all my colleagues, I thank you. We feel your support, and it means a great deal to us. Thank you very much for that,” Mirziyoyev said.
The Uzbek president emphasized that Trump’s efforts to ensure international stability are recognized in Uzbekistan.
“I have already told you: in Uzbekistan, you are called the President of Peace. You have accomplished a great deal — you were able to stop eight wars. And I am confident that you are the one who can stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. We sincerely hope for this,” he added.
Mirziyoyev noted that the current summit demonstrates the strategic importance of the region to Washington. “Today’s meeting shows that the United States considers Central Asia a key partner. Together, we are building a future based on trust and the desire to create,” he said.
During his speech, the Uzbek leader outlined several initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation within the “C5+1” format. These include the establishment of a permanent Secretariat on a rotating basis among Central Asian countries, as well as the creation of a Coordinating Council on Investment and Trade to facilitate systematic dialogue between government bodies, businesses, and financial institutions.
He also expressed support for the establishment of a Central Asian Investment Partnership, reminding that the agreement on this initiative was reached back in 2020.
Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of implementing joint transport, communications, and energy projects connecting Central Asia with Europe. “We are ready to work consistently with the United States on these projects, using the ‘Trump Route’,” he noted.
The president added that Uzbekistan and the U.S. are developing a three-year plan to implement an investment program worth US$34 billion. “These are major projects we discussed in New York and today,” he clarified.
Mirziyoyev described the summit as a landmark event symbolizing the strengthening of the partnership between Central Asia and the United States. “The ‘C5+1’ format should become an effective mechanism for practical cooperation,” he said, proposing that the next summit be held in Samarkand in 2026.
“I am convinced, Mr. Trump, that under your leadership, this partnership will be strong and long-lasting,” concluded the president of Uzbekistan.
