Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 June, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will undertake a working visit to the city of Astana to participate in the second summit in the “Central Asia – China” format.

The upcoming event will be attended by the heads of state of the region, as well as the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The agenda includes issues related to strengthening multilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. A comprehensive exchange of views is expected on pressing issues of the regional and international agenda. Following the meeting, a number of joint documents are planned to be signed.

During the visit, a bilateral meeting between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Xi Jinping will also take place.

It is worth recalling that the first “Central Asia – China” summit was held in May 2023 in the Chinese city of Xi’an and marked an important step toward deepening strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation between the countries of the region and China.
