President of Uzbekistan to Attend “Central Asia–Russia” Summit and CIS Heads of States Meeting in Dushanbe

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will travel to Dushanbe to take part in the “Central Asia–Russia” summit and the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of States, scheduled for 8–10 October.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, on 9 October, the leaders of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia will participate in the second “Central Asia–Russia” Summit. During the meeting, the heads of state will discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of multifaceted cooperation, as well as measures to coordinate efforts in combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other transnational threats.

The visit will conclude with the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of States, chaired by Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon. Participants will consider key international issues, including regional and global security, with particular attention given to deepening political dialogue, strengthening trade and economic ties, and expanding cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural spheres within the Commonwealth.

Following the meeting, a number of documents are expected to be signed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in a multilateral format.
