Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In anticipation of the celebration of the holy Ramadan Khait, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On pardon of a group of people serving their sentences who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction”.
In accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 93 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek leader pardoned 258 citizens serving a sentence for committing crimes who sincerely repented of their deed and firmly embarked on the path of correction.
Of the pardoned 16 persons are completely exempted from serving the main punishment, 101 persons are exempted from serving the sentence on parole, the punishment imposed on 24 persons is replaced by a milder one. In addition, reduced sentences in the form of imprisonment imposed on 117 persons.
Among the pardoned 7 are men over 60 years old, 1 woman, 7 - citizens of foreign countries, 164 - persons who participated in the activities of banned organizations.
