President of Uzbekistan Receives Prime Minister of Belarus
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 February, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, received Alexander Turchin, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, who is in Uzbekistan on an official visit.
At the outset of the meeting, the head of the Belarusian government conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan from Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus.
The talks addressed current issues related to the further expansion of the multifaceted Uzbek–Belarusian partnership in the context of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the trade and economic sphere.
It was emphasized that, according to the results of the past year, mutual trade increased by 25 percent and reached nearly US$1 billion. Industrial cooperation between leading enterprises of the two countries is steadily expanding in priority sectors of the economy.
Special attention was given to shaping a new economic agenda through the advancement of joint projects in mechanical engineering, the electrical and pharmaceutical industries, the textile and food sectors, agriculture, as well as other promising areas.
At the same time, the importance of intensifying interregional contacts and expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges was noted as key factors in further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus.
