President of Uzbekistan Presents Strategic Initiatives to Strengthen the Turkic World at OTS Summit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented a comprehensive set of initiatives aimed at strengthening the unity of Turkic countries and enhancing their role in global politics, economics, and humanitarian affairs at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
Among the key proposals was the organization of the first joint meeting of OTS foreign ministers and heads of intelligence services in Samarkand to develop coordinated approaches to regional and global security challenges. The president also supported the early adoption of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership, Eternal Friendship and Brotherhood and proposed the development of an OTS Development Strategy until 2030.
Mirziyoyev called for the establishment of a Permanent Council of Turkic States on Economic Partnership with a Project Office to be located in Tashkent. He proposed forming a Space of New Economic Opportunities, which would include the Industrial Alliance of Turkic States, a Turkic Green Corridors system, and a Green Transformation Consortium.
In the humanitarian sphere, the president suggested creating an Expert Group on Organic Agriculture and promoting a unified brand of Turkic organic products on the global market. He also emphasized the importance of developing the Middle Corridor and aligning it with the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway and the Trans-Afghan Corridor, underlining the need for customs digitalization and tariff optimization.
Particular attention was given to financial cooperation. Mirziyoyev proposed expanding the activities of the Turkic Investment Fund and adopting a Program of Cooperation with International and National Financial Institutions. He also introduced the idea of a Roadmap on Artificial Intelligence and the Creative Economy and suggested holding an International Exhibition of the Turkic World in Uzbekistan.
In the fields of education and culture, the president proposed establishing an International University of Turkic States in Uzbekistan as a platform for joint research and innovation. He also suggested organizing an international conference in 2026 titled “The Legacy of Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi in the Spiritual Life of the Turkic World.”
The agenda also included issues of security and ecology, with initiatives such as an Action Plan to Counter Extremist and Radical Ideologies and a Youth Environmental Education Program.
President Mirziyoyev’s initiatives are aimed at deepening cooperation among OTS member states, creating new economic and educational opportunities, and promoting the cultural heritage of the Turkic world on the international stage.
