President of Uzbekistan Pays Tribute to Islam Karimov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 January, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid flowers at the monument of the First President of the country, Islam Karimov, in Tashkent.

Historical memory is recognized as a key foundation for the sustainable development of the state and the spiritual unity of society. The invaluable contribution of Islam Karimov to the establishment of Uzbekistan as an independent state, the formation of the foundations of national statehood, and the strengthening of the country’s sovereignty is remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

Thanks to the initiative and attention of President Mirziyoyev, the memory of the First President has been commemorated: a mausoleum of Islam Karimov was built in Samarkand, and holding memorial events on 30 January — his birthday — has become a cherished tradition.

During the ceremony, verses from the Holy Quran were recited and prayers offered. Participants highlighted the First President’s contributions to the homeland, his state service, and personal qualities.

The memorial event at the Islam Karimov Scientific and Educational Memorial Complex was attended by members of the Oliy Majlis chambers, representatives of the Presidential Administration and the government, members of the scientific and cultural community, public organizations, and the general public.

Tributes were also paid at his monuments in Samarkand and Karshi.
