Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In connection with International Women’s Day, within the framework of the initiative expressed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to pardon a group of convicted women serving sentences of imprisonment, working groups were created from among the members of the President’s Pardon Commission representatives of other responsible departments that provided for the study of personal files of convicted persons and conducting individual interviews with them with direct field visits.
As a result of the work carried out, the head of state, approving the commission’s pardon for a group of convicted women who had violated the law, but who had realized the wrongfulness of their actions, who sincerely repented of their deed and firmly embarked on the path of correction, signed the Decree “On clemency of a group of convicted women serving a sentence of deprivation of liberty” Freedom, in connection with International Women’s Day. ”
The decree pardoned 83 women serving sentences.
Of the pardons, 12 persons are exempted from serving their sentences in full, 29 persons are released on parole, the punishment imposed on 17 persons is commuted to a milder one, in a word, 58 women are released from penal institutions. In addition, with respect to 25 convicted women, the terms of sentencing are reduced.
Of the pardoned, 7 are citizens of foreign states.
This event is a practical manifestation of such noble qualities inherent in our people as respect for women, respect for them, generosity, mercy, humanism and the ability to forgive.
As part of the implementation of the decree, the responsible ministries and departments were instructed to assist the pardoned women in returning to families and loved ones, social adaptation, engaging in useful work, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking a worthy place in society.
