Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Decree “On clemency of a group of people serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty, sincerely repenting of their deed and firmly embarking on the path of correction”.
In accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 93 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a decree pardoned 58 citizens serving a sentence who, because of ignorance, had committed a crime, but had sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction.
Of the pardons, 41 people are released from prison on parole, the penalty imposed on 3 people is commuted to a milder one, in short, 44 people are released from penal institutions. In addition, sentences in the form of imprisonment imposed on 14 persons reduced.
Among the pardoned, 2 are women.
This event is a practical embodiment of the policy of humanism in our country, as well as such noble qualities of our people as generosity, condescension, nobility and mercy.
As part of the implementation of the decree, the responsible ministries and departments were instructed to assist the pardoned persons in returning to their families and loved ones, social adaptation, engaging in useful work, choosing a healthy lifestyle and taking a worthy place in society.
