President of Uzbekistan Orders Expansion of Space Monitoring in Economy and Agriculture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree aimed at expanding the use of aerospace data across various sectors of the economy and improving management efficiency at the grassroots level in agriculture, the press service of the head of state reported.

The document stipulates that, starting from 1 January 2026, the Agency for Space Research and Technology will conduct state space monitoring at least three times a year. The monitoring will cover geology—for detecting unauthorized use of subsoil resources; land relations—for controlling illegal land seizures and construction; and ecology—for recording violations in waste management and the emergence of unauthorized dumps.

From 1 March 2026, information on violations will be transmitted digitally by contour through integration into the SGM platform, indicating the measures taken, ranging from warnings and rectification of violations to forwarding documents to the prosecutor’s office and courts. Additionally, annual space monitoring of illegal deforestation will be organized.

Sector-specific pilot projects are also planned. In the energy sector, aerospace monitoring will cover high-voltage power lines in the Bostanlyk district to detect malfunctions early and identify areas in Surkhandarya region for solar panel installation. In transport, monitoring of the Tashkent–Angren railway line will support the transition to operational control of track conditions.

The Ministry of Ecology and the Forestry Agency are instructed to organize inspections within five days of receiving data on illegal logging and enter the results into the SGM platform, reporting within 24 hours after measures are taken. Starting March 2026, a system for monitoring straw burning and its residues on agricultural land will also be implemented.

From 1 July 2026, a rating system will be introduced to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of aerospace data by ministries, agencies, and local khokimiyats.
