Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Meets with SCO Secretary-GeneralOn 5 March, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit.
During the talks, the parties discussed pressing issues related to strengthening multilateral cooperation within the SCO. Special attention was given to expanding practical collaboration in addressing common challenges and threats to stability and security, as well as deepening cooperation based on the principles of good-neighborliness, trust, and partnership.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of the ongoing modernization of the SCO’s activities, a process initiated at the Samarkand Summit. In this context, measures to enhance the efficiency of all SCO structures were discussed.
The discussions also covered the implementation of the "New Economic Dialogue" development concept and several initiatives proposed by Uzbekistan. These include adopting an agreement on trade facilitation, developing an e-commerce growth program, encouraging investment, digitizing logistics, launching the "SCO Future Technologies" program, creating a Food Security Atlas, and other key initiatives.
Additionally, the parties reviewed preparations for the upcoming SCO Summit, scheduled to take place in Tianjin, China.
