President of Uzbekistan Meets with Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 June, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Malaysian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Transition and Water Resources Transformation, Fadillah bin Yusof.
The Malaysian delegation arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit to conduct bilateral talks and participate in the United Nations Public Service Forum, currently taking place in Samarkand.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah bin Yusof conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the President from Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim.
The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation, building on the agreements reached during President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Kuala Lumpur in February of this year. They noted the positive momentum in bilateral relations, evidenced by intensified contacts at various levels, an increase in mutual visits, and the strengthening of economic partnerships.
In the first half of this year, trade turnover between the two countries has grown by 25 percent. The number of joint ventures has increased, and direct air connections have expanded. As part of the visit, a Uzbekistan-Malaysia Business Forum is scheduled, featuring leading companies from both countries.
Particular attention during the talks was given to unlocking the full potential of economic cooperation. The importance of actively advancing joint projects in key sectors—such as trade, innovation, green energy, oil and gas, chemical industries, geology, water resources, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, healthcare, education and workforce development, as well as pilgrimage tourism—was emphasized.
Both sides expressed readiness to further expand the partnership and implement new initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
