Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Mohammed Abu Nayyan, Co-Chair of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council and Chairman of the Board of ACWA Power.

They discussed issues related to expanding practical cooperation with companies from Saudi Arabia. The President noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of the partnership with ACWA Power, a strategic investor in Uzbekistan’s "green" energy sector. The current portfolio of joint projects with the company amounts to US$15 billion.

In December of last year, two wind power plants with a capacity of 500 megawatts each were connected to the grid in the Bukhara region. Additionally, projects for the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt in the Samarkand region and an energy storage system in the Tashkent region were launched.

The importance of accelerating the implementation of projects in the fields of "green" energy, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, modernization of heating and water supply, housing and communal services, and other priority areas was emphasized.

The need for thorough preparation for the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Commission and business forum, scheduled for this year in Samarkand, was also noted.

After participating in the events of the Samarkand Summit and the Climate Forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent.
