President of Uzbekistan Meets U.S. President’s Special Envoy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the anniversary events dedicated to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, on 22 September the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received Sergio Ghor, Special Envoy of the U.S. President for South and Central Asia, at his residence.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sergio Ghor conveyed personal greetings from U.S. President Donald Trump. During the conversation, the parties discussed further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as the implementation of agreements reached during the phone conversation between the two leaders on 5 September of this year.
Particular emphasis was placed on the high intensity of political dialogue, active exchanges of delegations at various levels, and the dynamic development of bilateral business contacts.
As part of the visit to New York, numerous meetings were held with leading American companies, resulting in the formation of a portfolio of contracts and promising projects worth over USD 100 billion.
These cover key sectors of the national economy, including civil aviation, mining, finance, innovative technologies, energy, chemicals, and other priority areas.
The importance of utilizing opportunities offered by the U.S. Eximbank and the DFC Fund to support and advance new projects was underlined, along with the establishment of a joint Coordination Committee to accelerate their implementation.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the fields of security, counterterrorism, and combating illegal migration. In addition, the schedule of upcoming international events was reviewed.
