President of Uzbekistan Meets Sojitz Executives to Discuss New Investment Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Masayoshi Fujimoto and Kosuke Uemura, senior executives of the Japanese corporation Sojitz.
The talks focused on key areas for further cooperation and the implementation of joint projects with the leading Japanese company.
Particular attention was paid to accelerating the construction of a combined-cycle gas power plant in the Syrdarya region, taking into account the country’s growing demand for electricity.
The sides also discussed priority initiatives in the social and infrastructure sectors, including the construction of a multidisciplinary hospital, a new international airport in Tashkent, a wind power plant, and the modernization of gas compressor stations in the regions.
Support was expressed for projects aimed at upgrading medical clinics and preschool and basic education institutions, creating a cross-border “green” energy corridor, and Sojitz’s participation in the development of a special economic zone for Japanese investors.
The meeting underscored the strategic importance of Japanese investments for the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s economy and social sector.
