President of Uzbekistan Meets Newly Elected UNESCO Director-General

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 November, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Khaled El-Enany, the newly elected Director-General of UNESCO.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the outcomes of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Samarkand and prospects for further cooperation.

The head of state congratulated El-Enany on his election to the high post and wished him success in his new role. In turn, the Director-General expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for his support and for hosting UNESCO’s key event at such a high level.

Both sides noted the systematic and productive partnership between Uzbekistan and UNESCO, which spans a wide range of areas, and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation, including expanding the organization’s project activities in the country.

Special attention was given to UNESCO’s readiness to take part in implementing the strategic initiatives presented by the President at the opening ceremony of the General Conference.
