President of Uzbekistan Discusses Cooperation with the State of Utah

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the U.S. state of Utah, led by Elder David Bednar of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Miles Hansen, Chairman of the international charitable organization Stirling Foundation. The meeting was also attended by U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the state of Utah, in the context of the dynamically developing Uzbek–American strategic partnership.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the growing interregional contacts and joint initiatives. Several projects are already being implemented in the fields of digitalization, education, and social protection.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in innovation, mining, women’s entrepreneurship, inclusive education, healthcare, water supply, and sanitation.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation led by the Governor of Utah to further enhance interregional cooperation and advance joint projects.
