President of Uzbekistan Awarded the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been named a laureate of the 2nd Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize.

The award was unanimously conferred upon the leaders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan — Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Sadyr Japarov, and Emomali Rahmon — during a ceremony in Moscow held on the birthday of the renowned writer and philosopher.

Valery Gergiev, chairman of the prize jury and artistic director and general director of the Mariinsky Theatre, emphasized that the award recognizes significant personal contributions to promoting peace and security in the Central Asian region.

The organizing committee highlighted the leaders’ role in signing the March 31 agreement on the tripoint of state borders between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, which fully formalized the legal delineation of their shared borders.

According to organizers, these measures represent a substantial contribution to ensuring universal and equitable security based on the rule of international law and have strengthened mutual understanding and cooperation among the peoples of Central Asia.
