President of Uzbekistan Approves Creation of “Ferghana” Tourism and Recreation Zone
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree “On Measures for the Establishment of the ‘Ferghana’ Tourism and Recreation Zone.”
The decree provides for the creation of the “Ferghana” tourism and recreation zone, covering a total area of 2,396 hectares, with an initial operational period of 30 years and the possibility of subsequent extension.
Under the implementation of the decree, necessary infrastructure will be developed in the Fergana district to transform the Vodil agrotourism cluster, known for its raspberry plantations, into a full-fledged tourist destination.
Entrepreneurs will be invited to set up lightweight structures and service facilities to accommodate visitors within the raspberry gardens.
In 2026–2027, tourism infrastructure will begin to develop on lands surrounding the Central Fergana Reservoir in the Yazyavan area, creating new jobs for the local population.
Additionally, in the “Sanoat” and “Hosilot” microdistricts of the Fergana district, plans include establishing raspberry plantations using foreign expertise, as well as constructing cold storage facilities and deep-processing workshops to provide comprehensive agrotourism services.
