President of Uzbekistan Approves Additional Holidays and Transfers of Public Days for 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree establishing additional non-working days and transferring weekends during the celebration of official holidays in 2026.
The decree is aimed at providing citizens with opportunities for full rest and promoting domestic and pilgrimage tourism.
According to the decree, additional non-working days for all employees will be:
- 2025: Wednesday, 31 December;
- 2026: Friday, 2 January; Thursday, 28 May; Friday, 29 May; Monday, 31 August.
For employees with a six-day workweek, additional non-working days are: Saturday, 3 January; Saturday, 30 May; Thursday, 31 December.
Weekend days that coincide with the holidays “8 March – Women’s Day,” “Navruz” (21 March), and “Remembrance and Honor Day” (9 May) will be transferred to 9 March, 23 March, and 11 May 2026, respectively. For continuous production facilities and essential services, the transfer of holidays does not apply.
Additionally, in 2026, for employees with a five-day workweek, the weekend originally on Saturday, 12 December, will be moved to Thursday, 31 December.
To encourage active recreation among the population, special promotions and discounts will be offered for visits to tourist sites, hotels, sanatoriums, wellness centers, as well as on domestic transportation services of Uzbekistan Airways JSC and Uzbekistan Railways JSC.
The Federation of Trade Unions has been tasked with organizing explanatory work on the purpose and content of the decree, while the National Television and Radio Company, together with information agencies, will provide broad public information on holiday events.
