President of the Geneva Diplomatic Circle: “The situation in Uzbekistan is under control”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - These days, attention and support are expressed to the people of Uzbekistan by their true friends from among the representatives of socio-political circles of foreign countries.

So, the President of the Geneva Diplomatic Circle, Robert Blum, sent a message saying the following.

“The latest news from Uzbekistan suggests that the situation in the country is under control thanks to decisions and measures adopted by the government. These measures were decisive and timely, which allowed to significantly protect the population from disaster.

As for our common future, I think we can draw the following conclusions.

Undoubtedly, as many have suggested, there will be a division of time “before the coronavirus” and “after”, and we all will have to think about creating a new system of relations between peoples and nations.

All of us will have to formulate this new type of relationship on the basis of a well-thought partnership that can protect us from such physical, social and, above all, economic shocks for the coming years.

Ensuring genuine national sovereignty in the areas of healthcare, finance and economics, as well as industry, seems obvious to me, given all the data and the situation that everyone has faced these days.

To combat this global crisis caused by the pandemic, most developing countries go into huge debt to support their economy in its current state, which, in my opinion, is illusory.

Fortunately, this does not apply to Uzbekistan, whose leader, in order to prevent pressure on the economy, announced the creation of a special anti-crisis fund that will support infrastructure development programs in Uzbekistan.

Measures have been taken to stabilize the epidemiological situation. There are 100 thousand people in quarantine. Several thousand citizens were returned to the country from abroad. Special quarantine zones have been created in the regions, new infectious hospitals are being built.

In Switzerland, the government has developed a program of assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises to protect them from bankruptcy, which allows them to receive loans with a zero interest rate, guaranteed by the state and repayable within five or seven years. This initiative is extremely interesting and will certainly have a deterrent effect on the economic crisis. This experience can serve as an example for other countries.

As a true friend of the Uzbek people, I would like to share my vision of how we all need to behave in this difficult period.

In these extremely critical and dangerous moments, it is necessary to follow and respect government decisions and directions, because this is the only way to get out of this situation without serious consequences. The vision of the head of Uzbekistan on the ways of the modern development of the state and the desire of the Uzbek people for progress and success - all this inspires great hope that the country needs at these special moments.”
