President Mirziyoyev Visits “Fishvel Norin” Enterprise and Reviews Development of Fish Farming in Namangan Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his working trip to Namangan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Fishvel Norin” enterprise, which is implementing innovative projects in the field of fish farming.

Fish breeding in the region plays an important role not only in improving public health but also in ensuring food security and stabilizing prices for other types of meat. Moreover, organizing small-scale fish farms at the household level allows families to earn additional income.

“Fishvel Norin” is implementing an investment project worth 3 million US dollars on an area of more than two hectares. Seventy-six innovative ponds have been created, of which 40 are already operational, enabling super-intensive trout farming.

The enterprise plans to produce around 2,000 tons of fish annually and export products worth approximately 5 million US dollars.

Special attention is given to training the local population: already 25 families from the Khujakurgoncha mahalla are cooperating with the cluster and each earns up to 150 million soums a year, while another 100 families from Norin and Uchqurghon districts are expected to join the project. Out of the planned 2,000 tons of trout, 500 tons will be raised in household settings, creating employment for more than 300 people.

The development of fish farming also stimulates related sectors. A modern restaurant serving fresh fish dishes has been opened at the enterprise, contributing to tourism and the service industry in the region. The President instructed that areas across the country suitable for trout farming be identified and this experience replicated. He also emphasized the need to establish feed production and the construction of artificial ponds near boreholes in cooperation with Dutch partners, with subsequent distribution to households.

In Namangan region, 34 intensive reservoirs have already been created around reclamation boreholes on the basis of public–private partnership. The mineral-enriched water is then reused in agriculture, helping to increase crop yields. In implementing these projects, international expertise is being actively applied.

The President was presented with a report by the regional reform headquarters: together with entrepreneurs, projects worth 1 billion US dollars are being implemented, 12,000 new jobs are being created, additional budget revenues of 200 billion soums are being generated, and exports totaling 160 million US dollars are being secured. Initiatives such as those in Norin and Mingbulak are seen as key drivers of regional economic development, providing ready-made projects and professional training to the population, directly boosting employment.

As part of his trip, Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the farm “Rasulov Gofurjon ugli Bakhodir” in Norin district and observed the cotton harvest. The farm cultivated a foreign cotton variety that yielded a high harvest. Drones were used for crop management and modern machinery for harvesting, allowing cotton to be collected without losses.
