President Mirziyoyev Launches New Bukhara International Airport Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his visit to Bukhara, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reviewed the construction project for a new international airport for the city.

The country is consistently developing its transport infrastructure, with roads and bridges being built and additional facilities created for passengers. The initiative to build a new airport in the Bukhara region was announced by the head of state in 2024 with the aim of further developing the region's tourism potential.

To implement the project, 370 hectares of land have been allocated outside the city limits. Simultaneously, the plan includes the construction of an access highway with a total length of 23.8 kilometers, comprising 2.7 kilometers of new road and the reconstruction of 21.1 kilometers of the existing route. Two overpasses, nine underground pedestrian crossings, and eight bridges are planned along the road.

According to the project, the airport will be equipped with a 3.3-kilometer runway, which will allow it to accommodate all types of aircraft. The passenger terminal complex will have a capacity of up to 1,200 passengers per hour.

The President emphasized that the future airport must meet modern international standards and provide a high level of comfort for both regional residents and foreign tourists. Additionally, the head of state was presented with information regarding other projects aimed at increasing the economic, investment, and tourism potential of the Bukhara region.
