President instructs to raise salaries of employees of research institutes and universities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to further increase the remuneration of employees in the sphere of science and higher education, as well as state support for the introduction of scientific and technical results”.

The document recalled that starting from 1 September 2018, the size of basic salaries of leading and scientific workers of research institutions, participating in the implementation of scientific and technical programs of fundamental, applied research and innovative work at the expense of the state budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as senior officials and faculty of higher educational institutions will increase in differentiated sizes.

The resolution said that from 1 August 2018, the salaries of employees of the administrative staff of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be doubled.

At the same time, starting from 1 September, the salaries of engineering and technical personnel of scientific research institutions, which are responsible for the design and technological support of scientific activities, maintenance of scientific laboratory equipment, will increase in differentiated sizes from 30 to 100 percent depending on the position and sphere scientific activity.

In 2019, the salaries of supervisors and scientific workers of the research institutions, participating in the implementation of scientific and technical programs of fundamental, applied research and innovative at the expense of the state budget, engineering and technical staff of the research institution, who is responsible for the design and technological provision of scientific activity and maintenance of scientific laboratory equipment, as well as managers and faculty of universities will increase in two stages: from 1 January – by 20% and from 1 July – by 25%.
