President Inspects Aerated Concrete Block Production at “Megaton” Plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Megaton” plant in the Chust district to review the production of aerated concrete blocks.

With population growth and rapid urbanization, demand for high-quality construction materials in Uzbekistan is rising. The country’s construction materials industry is developing dynamically, introducing modern technologies and producing increasingly efficient products.

One example of such progress is the gas block plant located in the Namangan Free Economic Zone and financed by Turonbank. The total project cost is 40 million dollars. The enterprise uses technologies from China, Germany, and Denmark, ensuring high quality and efficiency of output.

Aerated concrete blocks manufactured with German technology significantly reduce energy consumption: buildings constructed with these blocks require no additional external insulation, while indoor heat loss is cut by a factor of four. As a result, electricity costs can be reduced by up to 45 percent.

The plant uses grade 550 cement from the Namangan Cement plant, part of the Megaton enterprise, creating a full value-added chain. The facility has generated 500 new jobs.

The President toured the production workshops, laboratories, and finished goods. Plant managers provided information on the quality of the blocks and their resilience to extreme temperatures.

“It is important that our construction industry keeps pace with the times and produces high-quality products,” noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev. “Such innovative technologies must also be introduced in other sectors where imports still dominate. This will create healthy competition, expand consumer choice, and provide new jobs. We will continue to support proactive entrepreneurs.”

The plant’s production capacity is up to 600,000 cubic meters per year, which will cover about 28 percent of the region’s brick demand.

As part of the second phase of the project, plans include localizing the production of autoclaved gas blocks, specialized adhesives, and plaster mixes.
